ABOUT US

The Wonder Women group is the vision of transformation coach Michelle MacDonald.  In her decade of coaching in the fitness industry it became apparent that there was a gap between how female physique athletes were coached versus how lifestyle clients were coached. This was especially seen for women in the over 40 category. Michelle works with lifestyle clients in a very similar manner as her athletes.  They learn how to follow macro-based nutrition plans, they learn how to improve form in the gym, and use progressive overload to achieve incredible results, and they use a variety of cardio techniques to help drive progress. There is no ‘dumbing-down’ of any of the tools to create physique change. The assumption is that a woman of any age whether she's 18 or 80 is just as capable of mastering a few simple methodologies as an athlete, and she can achieve incredible success with transforming her body, and along with it, her mindset.

Janelle Marks was a corporate fashion designer before entering the world of fitness as an online and in-person coach for the professional woman. Janelle understands the demands and challenges women face in working a corporate job, managing family life, building a strong body, and having a positive body image at any size. Janelle helps her clients grow in continual success with their unique goals through curated macros, workouts, and mindset work to build new habits for lasting change. She enjoys helping women break through poor body image, and lack of strength in the gym.

Amanda is a passionate woman who is driven by success, which is measured by the value she adds to the lives of others. Amanda started her fitness lifestyle by hiring a coach for herself after trying for years to lose weight and utilizing the wrong tools like fad diets and cardio alone. Through her own experience she found a new passion and purpose that fulfills everyday of her life. She is helping women of all ages change their lifestyle through exercise, whole food nutrition, and mindset training. Amanda’s vision is to make a difference by empowering health, happiness and freedom in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.

MICHELLE MACDONALD

Michelle has been competing and coaching since 2010, and her expertise is not only in physique preparation but also nutrition and flexibility training for athletes. She specializes in mental preparation, and long-term lifestyle transformation for women of all ages and backgrounds.

Michelle developed her own style of yoga training from studying under Emmy Cleaves, Mary Jarvis, Esak Garcia and Michael Gannon. She taught in India for a year and practiced an advanced series rigorously to deepen her understanding of yoga. She is certified since 2003 in the Bikram Method and since 2015 in the Ashtanga Method.

In 2010 she graduated from culinary school and interned at the prestigious No. 9 Park in Boston. It was in school where she developed a deeper understanding of macro-based nutrition and how to prepare nutritious food fast without sacrificing taste.

She also mentored with Jean-Jacques since 2011 to understand the most up-to-date methodologies to prepare athletes for the stage. She’s a certified ISSA International Sports Science Association Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Precision Nutrition Certified Sports Nutrition Coach , and is known worldwide for her Transformation Programs. Michelle continues to expand her knowledge base through courses, seminars and workshops.

The experience of competing and working with clients for the past decade has allowed Michelle to develop her own highly sought after method for helping women of all backgrounds and ages to achieve their transformation and health goals, and to win dozens of Pro cards with various organizations including the WBFF World Beauty Fitness Fashion, Muscle Mania, IDFA International Drug Free Athletics, Serious About Fitness and Physique Canada.

Anni has been coaching women in nutrition, weight loss and body recomposition since graduating from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in 2015, and is particularly passionate about coaching women over 40.  She worked as an in-person trainer for years before switching the majority of her coaching business online.  She is believes in taking a holistic approach to body transformation, and that in order to create real and lasting change, you must address not only nutrition and training, but also the mindset and lifestyle that got you to where you are in the first place.  She believes in using a macro-based approach to nutrition and that with the right mindset, anything is possible.

Lizzy has been coaching and competing in the sport of powerlifting for six years.  She is passionate about incorporating a well-rounded approach to fitness by including yoga and conditioning to her strength-training regimen. She has worked and learned from some of the strongest people in the world including Chad Wesley Smith and Marisa Inda. Not only has she competed on the national level in powerlifting, but she has also transformed her body for the NPC stage with the guidance of top coach Michelle MacDonald of Tulum Strength Club. By working closely with Michelle over the years, she’s developed a passion for cooking, and for teaching other women what macro-based meal planning can do for both physique and performance. 

Lizzy’s expertise lies in teaching women how to keep setting the bar high. Whether it’s by doing your first pull-up, or deadlifting over 200lbs, she will show you, step by step, how to achieve goals you never thought possible.

MELISSA MCKENZIE

Melissa is a working mom of three boys that understands the challenges that come with investing in one’s own personal mental and physical fitness while managing the demands of work, home and children. She is a former varsity rower who lost her athletic identity and, literally, wore the heavy weight of an unsatisfying career and the chaos of raising small children while trying to keep it all together. She hired Michelle MacDonald of Tulum Strength Club, learned about the effectiveness and flexibility of macro-based nutrition, purposefully drilled away at her mindset, competed in her first fitness show and became an avid lifter. She now uses this lifestyle as her therapy, benefitting herself and her family. She is a firm believer that what is learned and achieved through lifting and nourishing the body spills over into other areas of life culminating in a richer, less anxiety-filled and more empowered existence. She is invested in helping other women to develop, feed and tap into their warrior mindset, to push through barriers and fears and to achieve what they dream for themselves too.

Nancy is a certified personal trainer since 2013, and recently became a mother of 2 young children. Being a working mom, she understands the challenges juggling your physical and mental well-being with work and a young family. 

 

Nancy started her bodybuilding journey in 2013, and although she had a good start, she knew she could level up her physique with the help of coach Michelle. She then became the champion of her respective category 2 years in a row. Nancy experienced different nutrition approaches, but since learning about macro-based approach with Michelle, Nancy is convinced this is the most sustainable approach to live a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. 

 

Nancy is also a personal development junkie. She’s consistently doing the hard work to develop herself so she can be of better service to others. Nancy’s mission is to empower all women of all ages to break their own self-limiting beliefs meanwhile achieving their fitness goals.

Carolyn is married with 5 adult children and 5 grandchildren. She is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, recently retired to just personal training work. She has been interested in nutrition and how the body works her whole adult life. Working in the medical field she has seen first hand the effects of poor nutrition and poor exercise habits on people’s health. She has experienced health issues herself with Hashimoto’s thyroid, inflammatory autoimmune arthritis leading to both hips

being replaced, and high blood pressure. These are what motivated her to join Michelle’s Lifestyle Transformation Program in January 2020. That program was life-changing with the loss of 35+pounds and getting off of 2 blood pressure

medications just by using macro-based eating and beginning an exercise program using weights and cardio. She is excited to help other women become the healthiest version of themselves using the tools she has learned from working

with Michelle.

Michelle is a working executive that understands the challenges that come with balancing work with one’s own physical fitness and wellness after the age of 50.   Michelle was always an athlete until her late 40’s when she had lost her focus with heavy work stress. She hired Coach Michelle and began a journey to rediscover her passion. During her coaching with Michelle she learned how to utilize nutrition to get in her best shape possible! No more undereating and causing her body additional stress- especially during menopause. Learning about flexible macro-based nutrition changed her outlook on food and she is thrilled about how this approach supports her active work life and stressors. 

 

Michelle is focused and invested in helping women build healthy habits and a positive mindset for women 50 and beyond! She believes it is never too late to go after your physique and health goals. Michelle accomplished her own goal of competing in fitness competitions at the age of 50!

Caroline brings a mix of education, theory and personal experience to her client training after going through a major 16-month transformation herself. As such, she is experienced with the obstacles her clients face and she walks her talk on a daily basis.

 

Through Caroline’s own transformation she learned how to use food as fuel, that strength training is an empowering way to take back control of one’s body, and she developed the

proper mindset needed to bring her best to her life every day. Now, she takes that same care and commitment and applies it to her training of other women. She considers it a privilege to work with women through their own transformations, and she

loves helping them with some of the most important work they will do for themselves in their lives.
